Before getting to this weeks drawing challenge, I wanted to give an update and some clarifications on this adventure. Everyone is invited to join. You do not need to personally know me (Sean) or Morgan to participate. You don’t have to consider yourself an ‘Artist’ to participate either. You don’t have to be trained through years of schooling or have natural talent, you just have to make a decision to pick up the pen, pencil, stick of charcoal, or whatever you wish to use and have fun.
The point of this journey together is to challenge one another. There will be times when it isn’t going to be easy. I have a unique style that is different than my cousin’s. She sees things differently than I do, and that is perfectly okay. Each week, there will be another challenge (most likely at some point on each Monday, but maybe earlier). If you want to join now or in the future, feel free! If you want to go back and do previous challenges, we invite you to! And if you want to submit a drawing to a past challenge, please do!
If you are not feeling inspired by a particular challenge, take the advice of the artist Chuck Close: “Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work.”
This drawing challenge is a community of artists whose goal is to lift one another up and inspire each other to start, continue, or get back into producing art for arts sake. If you have any ideas, comments, or questions, please don’t hesitate to comment!
I think that’s all. For now.
