Drawing Challenge 2016 Week 5: Texture

Another something that can add a huge difference to a drawing is texture. For example: You are doing a portrait and the model is wearing a fabulous leather jacket. How do you draw it to make it come across as leather? Or how about metal earrings? Perhaps They are in a fur hat?

For this week pick a texture (or number of textures) to try and replicate. For something simple perhaps just a close up of an object. Or for a bigger challenge try and draw something like an empty glass bottle of Coca-Cola.  A few more examples: Sandpaper, Glass, clay, wet clothes, skin, wood, leather… the options are limitless.

Please feel free to join us! All are welcome. Please follow these simple steps to send in your drawings and participate.

I was playing around with an idea in my head (see the second image for more description) about a memorial for a post apocalyptic story that I am working on. I know, I have to many ideas in my head. But the only way to get rid of them is to get them on paper. – STKerr
