In case you didn’t realize, we completely forgot to post a challenge last week. You see, sometimes life catches up to us as we go through this thing called life. Jobs. Vacations. Those small moments of beauty that cause us to pause. Children. And loved ones. Sometimes we prioritize the important things in life. And let everything else fall away.
Artists do this all the time. I was watching an episode of Ink Master where one of the artists simply stated that a part of the dragon’s form was his downfall, so he covered it with a well placed flower. Some things we just always hide.
When I started drawing, a lot of my figures had on boots to hide their feet and stood with their hands behind something. Why? Because I didn’t feel like I could draw them appropriately. I was scarred of them. A lot of my more recent sketches are faceless figures (mostly because I wanted the focus to be the rest of the figure).
So, the challenge this week: Draw something that you usually hide. It could be as simple as feet. Or as an incorporated background. Think about it, then don’t. Just draw.
All are welcome to join in on this adventure. Please follow these simple steps to send in your drawings and participate.
So, like I said: I usually leave out faces or hide hands. But this was the perfect opportunity to add those, as well as some color to a drawing. – STKerr
