When artists think of drawings, they are often thinking in black and white. They are thinking about all the shades of gray that they can make on the paper with their different techniques of cross hatching and blending and the use of stress in their marks. Sometimes, we over-analyze the meaning of a drawing and forget about the box we put ourselves into.
This week, the challenge is to use color. But not just to add color to the lines, but use only color. No blacks. No grays. Just color. Big swaths of color. And the perfect amount of tiny detailed placements of pigments.
You can use markers. You can break out colored pencils. You can even paint if your heart desires. The only thing we ask is that you challenge yourself to experiment and use color.
If you are interested in joining in, even if it is your first time, we’d love to have you join us. Please follow these simple steps to submit in your drawings to be shared!
